KENNETT SOFTBALL RUN RULES NMCC
The Kennett Indians softball team scored in every inning on its way to a 15-0 three-inning victory against the visiting New Madrid County Central Eagles Friday at Indian Park.
Kennett scored eight runs in the first inning, one run in the second frame, and six more runs in the third inning for its 15-run total.
Cleanup hitter Caroline Byers paced the Kennett offense. Byers hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and scored a team-high three runs.
Kennett pitcher Emillie Johnson also enjoyed a big day at the plate. The No. 2 hitter finished 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.
Natalie Morrow, Jetta Tillmon and Olivia Orf recorded two RBIs apiece for Kennett. Anelle Harris added one RBI for the Indians.
Maggie Sutton collected a leadoff single in the top of the first inning and Elizabeth Bennett collected a leadoff single in the top of the third inning for New Madrid County Central. But the Eagles stranded both hitters at third base.
Johnson pitched all three innings for Kennett. She allowed two hits, struck out five and walked zero.
Shania Word recorded all eight outs for the NMCC pitching staff.
New Madrid County Central (5-7) hosts Dexter Monday.
Kennett (7-4) takes on Holcomb Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Swing Pink Tournament at East City Park in Dexter.
