It was not the New Madrid County Central softball team’s night on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles’ season came to a close in the semifinals of the Class 1, District 2 Tournament, as it fell to Malden 8-1. Lily Johnson struck out eight batters but allowed eight hits and eight runs to cross over her six innings of work. Hope Hartman went 1-for-3 with two RBI for Malden, including a home run.
